Bernard Mcllroy trained with a large firm of accountants before qualifying as a solicitor in a law firm in 1999 and becoming a partner in an international law firm in 2005.
Bernard has extensive experience in all aspects of transactional tax. In particular, advising on exit planning, reorganisations and reconstructions and the structuring of private equity backed transactions.
Fiona Sutherland qualified as a solicitor with a City firm in 1994 and became a partner in an international law firm in 2001.
Fiona has specialised in corporate tax work since qualification and has broad experience of transactional tax, (in particular reorganisations, reconstructions and exit planning) and in structuring and implementing all types of employee share incentives for a broad range of private and public companies.
Will is a very experienced corporate lawyer with over 20 years’ experience gained at both City and national law firms.
Will specialises in advising OMBs on reorganisations, shareholder arrangements, joint venture and investment arrangements, acquisitions and disposals. Will acts predominantly for owner-managers, entrepreneurs and founders of growth companies.
Alison Morris qualified as a solicitor with an international law firm in 2001 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in the same year. As well as having extensive experience in private practice, Alison also worked for a major legal publisher for over ten years, as tax editor and head of the business tax editorial team.
Alison has broad experience in both corporate tax (including mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations and demergers) and real estate tax, and has advised a broad range of public and private companies, owner-managed businesses and non-profit making bodies.
Janet is a very experienced corporate lawyer with over 20 years’ experience gained at national law firms.
Janet advises on a range of transactions including group reorganisations and demergers, equity investment, acquisitions, disposals, transitions to employee ownership, share schemes, joint ventures and shareholder arrangements. Janet’s clients range from corporate bodies, owner managers, privately owned companies, founders of start up companies and investors in a wide variety of market sectors.
Tim qualified with the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) in 2009 becoming a fellow in 2019. He became a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) with the Chartered Institute of Tax after qualifying in 2015.
Having started at HMRC Tim has a wealth of experience in advising owner managed businesses on all aspects of their companies and has headed Tax and Payroll departments at several accountancy firms before moving fully into tax advisory work.
Tim became a Senior Associate at MSA Law in January 2024 and works alongside the Tax Partners specialising in all areas of corporate tax as well as property and inheritance taxes.
Kallen is a trainee solicitor in the corporate department.
He completed his LLB in Leeds in 2019 and then gained his LPC alongside a MSc in Law and Business Management at the University of Law in London.
In 2020, he joined a national law firm based in Manchester as a paralegal before joining MSA Law as a paralegal in 2022, working in both the corporate and tax teams. In 2023, he commenced his training contract to become a corporate lawyer and is due to qualify in 2025.
Since joining MSA, Kallen has become a valuable member of the corporate team and currently provides support on transactions with a wide range of complexities including acquisitions and disposals, demergers and group reorganisations.
Issy joined the MSA Law team at the start of 2025 as a paralegal. She supports the team in a range of tasks such as legal drafting, proofreading and research.
Most recently, she worked for a large firm of accountants in Manchester in a variety of administrative roles including two years as an Executive Assistant to Senior Directors and Partners, mainly in the tax line of service. Whilst working full time, Issy also completed her LLB through the Open University in 2024.
